There are many benefits of having health benefits, especially through your place of employment.  If you are a small business looking to get health insurance for their employees and are in San Jose, CA– give us a call!  We will be able to help you navigate the benefits world. Read on in this blog to find out about the benefits of certain types of benefits out in San Jose, CA.

As a resident of San Jose, CA and in the health insurance world for the last five years, I have seen a lot of changes to the plans.  Some of them have been good, some of them have been not so good.  I would say that people in general are more disappointed with the way that benefits have gone, particularly in San Jose, CA, but there are those who are still living the dream with their employers who are paying 100% for everything.

The benefits of having health benefits:

1) You can feel protected that you have a max out-of-pocket cost.
Whatever plan you are on (an individual, family, or group health plan), there are certain maximums that you will not have to go over in one calendar year.  Which plan you are on totally depends on what that amount is.  Sometimes if you have numerous people on your plan, like other family members, then your max out-of-pocket (or max risk) will be higher for that year.  Either way, if you have a million dollar claim that happens, you will only have to pay the max out-of-pocket.  It’s a nice feeling to have.

2) You can save tax-free money with certain plans if they are HSA compatible.
If you have an HSA (Health Savings Account) plan, you can save up tax-free money in a savings account that rolls over year after year.  That money is yours whether it’s put in by you or the employer.  That money can be used for dental, medical expenses, or vision expenses!  A lot of prescriptions are also available for purchase with HSA money.  These are the best plans if you are paying A LOT in a union that you can opt out of and wish to save some money.

Let us know if you have any questions about your benefits.  Those are just two things that are beneficial to having your benefits!
